Drunk Transco staffer kills wife

Hyderabad: A drunk Transco employee killed his wife in Gajwel in Medak district on Thursday. The culprit strangled her after a heated argument and later surrendered before the police. Police said that he committed the murder in a fit of anger after the victim refused to give him money for buying liquor.
The victim, identified as M. Renuka, 28, was the wife of M. Srinivas, 33, who works as a fireman at Transco. The couple have two kids, Dheeraj, 10 months and Dikshitha, 3.
Police said that a couple of days ago, the couple went to Renuka’s parents’ house in Nizamabad district and had returned on Wednesday. While returning, she had brought some money given by her parents.
Late at night Srinivas who came home drunk asked her for the money and she refused. Though Srinivas tried to take the money from his wife she did not give it to him. Enraged at this he killed her on Thursday morning after a heated argument at home.
“Renuka was strangled with a sari,” said Gajwel circle inspector T. Amrutha Reddy. Sources said that after the killing the culprit went straight to the police station and surrendered. Though cops have taken him into custody, they are yet to confirm his arrest. Based on a complaint, a murder case was registered and is being investigated.
