Doctors perform rare abdominal surgery remove uterine tumor weighing 5 kgs

The tumor called ‘Super Giant Uterine Fibroid’ and took around two hours to complete

Visakhapatnam: A rare abdominal surgery was performed by Dr B. Padhan (Gynecologist) at Divisional Railway Hospital, Visakhapatnam on Thursday on a 48-year-old woman.

A large uterine tumor weighing 5 kg was removed and the patient has since recovering. Uterine tumors are common in women, but this tumor which in medical parlance is known as ‘Super Giant Uterine Fibroid’ was something which we have never seen or operated upon before, doctors said.

The surgery was performed by a team of doctors headed by Dr B. Padhan and Dr Mahesh Kumar. It took around two hours to complete the surgery.
