Hyderabad: A social activist from the city, Dr J. Ram Mohan Chowdhary, on Friday moved a PIL before the Hyderabad High Court, seeking to restrain the Telangana government from using the recent Intensive Household Survey data in deciding eligibility to welfare schemes of the state.
The petitioner alleged that the Telangana government has conducted the Intensive Household Survey on August 19, 2014, with a malafide intention in order to make the people belonging to Seemandhra ineligible to welfare schemes implemented by the Centre and the state.
He said in the absence of statutory power, the government has administered oath/affirmation during the survey for purpose of legalising the quasi racial and tamperable data which is ultra vires to Oath Act, 1969.
He prayed the court to direct the Centre to conduct enquiry into all phases of survey, including pre-enumeration, enumeration and post-enumeration, Census questionnaire and its legality, including oath administration, security of census data.
The petitioner urged the court to restrain the Telangana government from keeping the survey data in public domain, including digitisation, till authenticity and legality of data is established after enquiry by the Centre.
