Hyderabadi biryani for MPs in Parliament canteen
HyderabadMPs attending Parliament session in New Delhi will soon get the taste of the famed Hyderabadi biryani and other delicacies.
 
Besides biryani, mirchi ka salan, shahi ka tukda, qubani ka meetha, an Indian desert made from dried apricots, and other items and of course the popular Irani chai will tickle the palates of our MPs in the Parliament canteen from the Winter Session of the Lok Sabha.
 
“We have decided to introduce Hyderabadi biryani and other delicacies besides Hyderabadi chai in the Parliament canteen from the Winter Session. Many MPs like to have Hyderabadi biryani and their wish will be fulfilled soon,” A.P. Jitender Reddy, TRS MP and chairman of the Food Committee of Parliament, told this newspaper. 
 
“Though vegetable pulao and biryani are available in the canteen, but it’s no match for our Hyderabadi biryani,” he added.
 
The Lok Sabha has 545 members and the Rajya Sabha 243. To ensure pucca Hyderabadi biryani, two cooks have been sent to Hyderabad to undergo training at the Nizam Club, which is famous for biryani and other Hyderabadi delicacies.
 
“We plan to train four cooks to prepare the Hyderabadi delicacies. Two have left for Hyderabad to undergo a week’s training at Nizam Club. Subsequently two others will be sent for training,” he added.
 
Parliament canteen run by the Railways provides highly subsidised food items to MPs. The canteen provides an array of north Indian and other dishes.
 
, including tomato soup, chicken sandwich, fresh fruit juice, bread, fruit salad, fried fish, chips, pudding, khichidi, curd rice among others.
