Information on security withdrawal sought

Hyderabad: Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar of Hyderabad High Court on Friday asked the principal secretary of the home department of Telangana state to furnish reasons for withdrawal of security cover to BJP spokesperson M. Raghunandan Rao, before the court by October 17.

 

The judge was dealing with a petition by Mr Raghunandan Rao, challenging an order issued by the Medak SP on August 18 to withdraw his personal security. 

 

The petitioner told the court that he had filed cases against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members for their alleged involvement in certain corrupt practices prior to the general elections and hence Mr Rao, after coming to power, instructed the authorities to withdraw his security cover. 

 

Claiming that he had received threats to his life over the phone from some unidentified persons, Mr Raghunandan Rao said even though the matter was brought to the notice of the authorities, the SP had withdrawn his security cover.
