Washington: Model Naomi Campbell has been criticised after she posted a mistake-riddled tweet about the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, in which she called her ‘malaria’, according to reports.

Twitteratis also pointed out that 44-year-old fashion icon managed to spell ‘nobel’ incorrectly. The tweet drew an instant chorus of dismay.

Campbell's offending tweet, was still on the site for more than seven hours after being posted. She later tweeted a correction, claiming her phone "spat out" the wrong spelling of Malala's name.

The peace prize was awarded jointly to Malala and Kailash Satyarthi from India, "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education".

"The Nobel Committee regards it as an important point for a Hindu and a Muslim - an Indian and a Pakistani - to join in a common struggle for education and against extremism," the judges said in a statement.
