Cricketer R Ashwin is dyslexia association ambassador
Ashwin will be involved in social activities to bring about awareness
Chennai: The Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA) recently roped in noted cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin as its goodwill ambassador to spread awareness about the disorder that involves difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols without affecting general intelligence.
Awareness is a key component in understanding dyslexics, said Mr Chandrasekhar, founder-president of MDA. He added, “Inclusive education in schools will help these children cope with the situation.”
He said, “Around 10 to 12 per cent of school-going children are affected universally and TN data could be similar.”
He believes that roping in a national figure to take the message would reach people and added that Ashwin was also interested in the social cause.
Ashwin will be involved in social activities to bring about awareness and educate teachers, parents and the public about the disorder.
