Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl fell in an open borewell at an agricultural field in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district of Telangana on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred this morning when the girl, Girija, was playing and accidentally fell inside the open borewell in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Ranga Reddy district while her grandparents were working in the field, Manchal police station inspector P Jagadeeshwar told PTI.

"Rescue efforts are going. Oxygen is being supplied into the hole," he said. Police and revenue officials were also in the process of digging up a parallel pit to pull out the girl safely. Telangana Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and senior police officers rushed to the spot and are monitoring the rescue operation.
