Hyderabad: The Telangana State government on Saturday asked students not to panic as the October 15 deadline set to apply for certificates, does not pertain to students.
However, parents of fee reimbursement beneficiary students are in a state of panic as several engineering colleges have put up notices asking them to submit income, caste and residence certificates or pay the full fee by October end. College managements will also meet government officials on Monday.
The deadline announced by the Telangana State government has sparked confusion and a mad rush was seen at the MRO offices. “There are only three days to the deadline and the local MRO says he has not received instructions yet.
We are not sure if we will get the certificates in time. How can we pay up the entire fee amount by October 31?” an anxious parent of asked.
However, government officials have clarified that the October 15 deadline is only for beneficiaries of the pension scheme, the subsidised grains scheme etc. Student beneficiaries of the FAST scheme are not affected by this.
J. Raymond Peter, principal secretary, Social Welfare Department, said, “October 15 is not the deadline for FAST beneficiaries. The guidelines for the scheme are not ready yet.”
