Hyderabad: Venkateshwar Rao and Ravi Prasad, who were injured when the hoarding fell on them, were reportedly going for an interview at Infotech in Madhapur. Mr Rao, who was driving the bike, had given a lift to Mr Prasad.

“When they reached the hoarding near the Bio Diversity Complex, it suddenly collapsed on them. Mr Pruthvi, another biker, sustained a  head injury resulting in instant death. While Mr Venkateshwar too suffered grave injuries, Mr Ravi escaped with minor injuries,” said Raidurgam Inspector Ch. Srikanth.

The injured were shifted to the Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli and are being treated. Their condition is said to be stable. Based on a complaint, GHMC was booked for negligence under Sections 304 A (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC.

“They had allegedly erected the hoarding without proper safety measures at place. It was weak and  therefore that it collapsed. Based on a complaint, we booked a case and started investigation,” said Raidurgam SI,  R.B. Naik.

This is the second incident of alleged negligence by GHMC in a week. Last Sunday, Hemanth Kumar Sahay (66) had died after falling in an open manhole in Himayathnagar.
