Hudhud cyclone spares Nellore district
Continuous broadcast in the media hits photographers’ income
Nellore: Much to the relief of officials and general public, there is hardly any impact because of Hudhud cyclone in SPSR Nellore district.
Except for rough sea and partly cloudy sky, the climate was as usual in Nellore on Sunday. A sea surge of 20 metres was witnessed at Kottakoduru beach.
Mypadu and Kottako-duru beaches are the favourite spots for youth of city especially on Sundays. However, both of them wore a deserted look on Sunday because of continuous announ-cements on the cyclone threat in the media.
The warnings have hit the business of two youngsters Sk. Arshad and N. Ranga who eke out a living from taking photographs of visitors at Kottakoduru beach.
“The cyclone warning has ruined our business. We usually make Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 on Sundays but this time it is not even Rs 500 so far,” Mr Ranga said. Mr Uppala Venkaiah, a guard posted by police to prevent people from entering into the water, said that sea surge was to the extent of 20 to 30 metres during last two days.
Meanwhile, official machinery is still on alert in view of possible heavy rainfall.
