Hyderabad: A medico committed suicide in her hostel room at Andhra Mahila Sabha in Vidyanagar. The victim P. Madhavi, 23, who was doing PG first year in gynaecology, hanged herself from the ceiling of her room in the early hours of Sunday. She left a suicide note naming a doctor.

Dr Madhavi, who belongs rto Warangal district, was staying alone at the PG hostel on the campus and was working at the Andhra Mahila Sabha (Durgabhai Deshmukh Hospital and Research Center).

At around 12:30 am on Sunday night she finished her duty, came back to her room,  bolted it, and committed suicide.

“She hanged herself from the ceiling using a chunni. Her colleagues who called her in the morning didn’t get any response. Even after repeated knocks she didn’t open her door. The hostel authorities were alerted. When we broke open the door she was found dead,” said SI V. Chiranjeevi.

A suicide note was recovered. It named a person named Dr Maartha Sarojini who belongs to the same department. “It had just two sentences which named her. We are enquiring about it,” said Mr Chiranjeevi.

Based on a note a case under Section 306 (Abetment to commit suicide) was registered. Her parents were informed and the body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for postmortem.
