Cancer afflicted kids greet Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on birthday
Nearly 70 child cancer survivors wished former President

Coimbatore: Nearly 70 child cancer survivors wished former President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on his birthday over phone as part of the initiative organised by Lead India 2020.
According to Dr P. Guhan, director of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR), the free paediatric cancer ward at SRIOR that has treated about 400 children with cancer for free, is celebrating its 10th anniversary the ward was inaugurated by Dr Kalam.
Lead India 2020 enabled 70 children, 20 of whom are undergoing treatment and 50 who have already completed treatment, to interact with Dr Kalam over phone. The children cut cakes to mark Dr Kalam's birthday. They were very elated to talk to him and wish him on his birthday, Dr Guhan said.
The children are in the age group of 3 and 15 years and suffer from blood cancer, bone cancer and kidney tumours, the director of SRIOR added.
