Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday directed the Telangana state Congress leaders to wage a war against the TRS government, which he alleged failed to implement its promises and causing inconvenience to the people with its mindless surveys and announcements.
Mr Singh convened a meeting of the state Congress leaders, including TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Leaders of Opposition in Legislative Assembly and Council K. Jana Reddy and D. Srinivas, TPCC working president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, at AICC office in New Delhi on Wednesday.
He told them not to spare TRS for its total failure in all fronts and continue to expose its failures at all the forums, including in the ensuing Assembly Budget Session.
At the meeting, the Congress in principle decided to agitate for the tribals’ cause in the seven mandals that were merged in Seemandhra which were likely to be submerged under Polavaram multi-purpose Dam.
It was the same Congress party led UPA-2 government approved the draft Ordinance to bring the seven mandals into residuary AP and sent it for President who returned the file stating it would not proper to bring Ordinance before general elections.
The same draft Ordinance was adopted by newly formed NDA government in its first cabinet meeting and President has promulgated it on May 29 last, before the June 2 appointed day of formation of Telangana State.
Now Congress came to conclusion that the party should take up the Tribal problems inorder to enlist their support. It also decided to hold a public rally in November in Khammam.
