ADILABAD: The state government’s directive to submit applications on white paper seeking caste, income, residence and other certificates is worrying students as they fear that it is a ploy by officials to eliminate beneficiaries and thereby cut down on the expenditure. The students are growing anxious over not being issued any receipt on submission of applications.
For the first time, the state government had asked students to submit applications written on white paper to respective tahsildars. Earlier, the students used to fill the prescribed application form and then submit it to the tahsildars. But now, the students are being forced to submit separate applications for each certificate.
The certificates would not be issued by the Mee Seva centres, instead the tahsildars would issue them, after thorough verification.Students who are pursuing academics in other places also reached their native places to apply for the certificates. In case of those not able to come to their home towns, their parents are taking the pains and submitting the applications.
L. Pravin, an engineering student of KRK Colony in Adilabad and pursuing B.Tech II year in Hyderabad, reached Adilabad to apply for t he certificates following the state government’s announcement that only fresh certificates issued by the revenue officials would be considered eligible for the fee reimbursement scheme and for fresh admissions.
“I came down to Adilabad, missing my classes, to apply for the certificates.
The new system introduced by the government is disturbing my studies,” he complained.T. Harish, of Kolipura Colony in Adilabad, expressed doubt if he would be issued fresh certificates as officials had not given him any receipt on submission of the applications written on white paper.
