No ‘Maharashtra issues’ in Bidar, Gulbarga
The boundary issue carries no significance for people other than Belgaum region
Belgaum: The boundary dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra, which the state government has taken seriously in the aftermath of Maharashtra government moving the court demanding several areas of Karnataka, is not a serious issue for people on another side of the Maharashtra border in Bidar and Gulbarga.
Despite the fact that Maharashtra is demanding several areas of Bidar and Bhalki region too, the leaders of this region feel no one is interested in the border dispute.
For many leaders in Bidar and Gulbarga, the dispute between both the states is confined only to Belgaum. Even after MLA of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), Sambhaji Patil recently held meetings across Bidar and Bhalki to unite Marathi people, nobody is interested in the issue, says senior legislator from Aland in Gulbargat B.R. Patil.
According to him, the boundary issue carries no significance for people other than Belgaum region. “The people are concerned about development of areas on the border in Bidar and Gulbarga,” he said. Speaking to media persons he said, the reunification of states has been done scientifically which has to be accepted by all. It is absolutely impossible to re-draw the state's boundaries again, Mr Patil contended.
