A library which included literature on Gandhiji would be set up along with a museum

Kottayam: The Mar Thoma Church and the Gandhi Peace Foundation are planning to construct a library and a museum to preserve the memory of the father of the nation, who stayed a night at one of the buildings on the premises of the M.T.Seminary School here.
According to school records, Mahathma Gandhi called on the school and stayed at the residence of principal K.K.Kuruvilla, on the night of January 16, 1937. Kuruvilla, who was the principal of the school for 19 years (1926-45) and the Mar Thoma Theolological Seminary, was also a disciple of Gandhiji. Work on renovating the principal’s house is on. Soosamma Samuel, principal of MT Seminary School and treasurer of Gandhi Sadhan, formed for the construction of the library and the museum, said a library which included literature on Gandhiji would be set up along with a museum.
The library will be set up in the room where Gandhiji stayed. A sum of Rs 15 lakh was granted from the MLA fund of Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan for constructing the library. The teachers and the management together contributed Rs 5 lakhs. T.G.Samuel of the Gandhi Peace Foundation all this was being done to preserve the memory of Gandhiji.
