Mumbai: Shilpa Shetty Kundra recently launched her designer line of saris, branded as SSK (Shilpa Shetty Kundra).
As Shilpa now has to juggle her professional and personal commitments, talking about multi-tasking, she says, “Women are good at multi-tasking. We manage all our duties well. I can look after my child and my family by dividing my time equally.
My time begins after my child goes to his nursery school. I attend board meetings and also fulfill other duties. Sometimes I have straight shifts throughout the day when I am shooting. But I like to return home by 6 in the evening because from 6 to 9 in the evening I love to be with my son. The time from 9 to 11 pm is for my husband.”
She, thankfully has a great support system that lets her follow her passion. “Very clearly, I am left with no time for myself. Yet I love to work, and my husband knows that. He, therefore, encourages me to be busy with whatever I like to do.”
Her designer sari line, SSK went online on Karva Chauth. Talking about why she decided that particular day, she says, “I chose to go online that day because these designer saris will surely attract all women, who would be at home on Karva Chauth. Also, the rates are very affordable. I am doing this for my fans, especially those who have always loved to look like Shilpa Shetty.
“I have grown up watching my mom wearing saris and have a special love for saris. We belonged to a middle class family and my mom would buy an ordinary sari and then paint on it to make it look different.”
Adding about her love for saris, Shilpa says, “I had walked into the Big Brother house wearing a sari. Even for my films I would ask my designer to get a few saris from a particular place and would choose the design as well the colour.”
Asked whether she would make a good entrepreneur, Shilpa says, “Oh no, I am not a businessperson. I am venturing into doing things that I love to do. All women want to become like Shilpa Shetty. I play a catalyst to them.”
“I have been inspired by the huge response from all women who want to be like ‘Shilpa Shetty. Therefore, I have decided to write a book on nutrition. This book will highlight the importance of health for women and mothers as well. Basically, I want to say simple things through this book. I have just completed the 17th draft.
“A lot of people do not understand nutrition. I have noticed mothers are keen on making their kids hog all day long. This is a wrong practice. Mother’s need to know what is the right nutrition for their kids and should be able to bring them up by feeding healthy stuff.”
She adds, “My son Viaan Raj Kundra is fed a lot of ghee. I too eat a lot of ghee. But then one needs to know the way it has to be taken.”
