A Telangana, Andhra short film
Shot with just Rs 300, Anshul Sinha’s film Andhra Telangana is now part of the LA film fest
Hyderabad: Awarded independent filmmaker, Anshul Sinha, is one of the finalists of the MY HERO Project, a film festival in Los Angeles, for his film Andhra Telangana.
From the US to Sydney, his films have been screened everywhere, but the 25-year-old himself has never travelled outside India. “It’s very expensive,” explains Anshul. His film will be screened on November 21.
“The organisation will only be paying one-way expense, which still makes it difficult for me to attend the fest. The only way I am able to make more films is with the prize money that I receive at various film fests. Therefore, I can’t afford to spend money on majority of the fests, especially the ones abroad,” says Anshul adding, “My film Lalpet was shortlisted in 2012 for this fest and I was given the International Peace Prize award then. This year, there are 30 final entries and the results will be declared on November 21.”
Andhra Telangana is a five-minute film that was made with only '300. “We used a handy cam and everything else was low budget too,” he says. “The film was made in 2013, when the state’s division wasn’t announced,” adds Anshul who is making a documentary fictional film on Satya Harishchandra Foundation, which cremates unknown and unclaimed dead bodies.
