Road rage: Andhra woman assaults auto driver in Bengaluru
It is said that Sarita abused auto drivers in front of police & called them ‘bloody locals’
Bengaluru: A woman has been accused of assaulting and spitting on an auto driver’s face, after the driver reportedly questioned her for overtaking from the left. The incident was reported in Madiwala police station limits on Saturday evening.
Jai Bhuvaneshwari Auto Drivers Association has filed a complaint against the woman, Sarita, a native of Andhra Pradesh. Sarita has also filed a complaint against auto driver Prashanth and others accusing them of harassing her.
According to the police, the incident took place on Venkatapura Main Road in Koramangala first block around 7.30 pm, when Sarita’s car driver overtook Prashanth’s auto from the left. It is alleged that Prashanth did not make way despite honking by the car driver, so he overtook the auto from left.
Irked by this, Prashanth allegedly abused the car driver. Seeing this, Sarita asked her driver to stop the vehicle and got down. “She allegedly punched Prashanth on his face and later spat on his face. She also told him that she need not learn about following traffic rules from him. Prashanth contacted the association members and informed them about the incident,” the association’s president Chalapathi stated in his complaint.
Both Sarita and Prashanth were brought to the police station. On knowing about the incident, DCP (South-East) Rohini Katoch Sepat and other senior officers rushed to the station. It is said that Sarita abused the auto drivers in front of police officers and called them ‘bloody locals’.
