Vijayawada: In order to reduce the woes of the people travelling from Benz Circle to Ramavarappadu at peak times, the VGTM-UDA has proposed to extend the service roads parallel to the NH-5.

UDA officials have prepared a proposal on extension of the service roads on either side of the NH-5, Currencynagar to Ramavarappadu.

The VGTM-UDA has given approval.

B.S. Srinivasa Rao, VGTM-UDA executive engineer said, “We wrote to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, seeking 50 percent of the funds to go ahead with the proposal. We are waiting for its nod to start work.”

The extension of this small but important stretch will cost around Rs 3 crore.

It must be remembered that the VMC is facing an acute financial crisis.

Assistant city planner P. Madhu Kumar said, “We have received the proposal from the UDA and added it to the Master Plan. However, the VMC is not in a position to initiate the work now.”
