Mumbai: FC Pune City found themselves under scrutiny for fielding more foreign players than allowed during their 0-5 drubbing at the hands of Mumbai City FC in their Indian Super League match here.
Pune lost their second consecutive match of the ISL at the D Y Patil Stadium yesterday and they may now be penalised for apparent breach of league rules.
"Indian Super League Regulatory Commission have recorded an apparent breach of its League Rule 9.1 by FC Pune City during the Match 6 played here on Saturday, 18th October 2014," the league organisers said in a media advisory.
"For FC Pune City, the third substitution at 61st minute of play resulted in fielding four (4) Indian players against the stipulated minimum of five (5)," the organisers said.
Six foreign players (and hence five Indian players) can be in the filed of play at any particular point of time in a match.
"The ISL Regulatory Commission is reviewing the apparent breach of League Rule in this case and will make the announcement of its decision as soon as practicable," the media advisory said.
