Crucial Garividi power sub-station restored

Hyderabad: An important link for power-starved Srikakulam and Vizianagaram, Garividi sub-station, which lost a few towers, was restored late on Monday.

The power deficit in the state has been brought under control with the supply of 200 MW of power from the Centre to APTransco. About 95 per cent of Visakhapatnam city, 90 per cent of Srikakulam,  and 80 per cent of Vizianagaram are expected to have power by Diwali.

However, restoration of power in some of the rural mandals will take five to 10  days more to complete. Thirty-one solar panels with a 1 KV capacity have been constructed within Visakhapatnam city to meet the power requirements of emergency and essential services like hospitals, water supply etc.

Andhra Pradesh energy secretary Ajay Jain said,  “The critical Garividi link was restored, thus, catering to the power requirements of Vizianagram and Srikakulam. The Kashimkota line will be ready by October 30.”
