Telangana sets up special land protection cell
It has become difficult to take swift action, as most of grabbers attack the field staff
Hyderabad: The TS government has appointed a special police force for land protection in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts exclusively to deal with land encroachment cases and to protect valuable government and Wakf lands.
The government on Monday issued orders sanctioning 44 personnel, comprising inspectors, head constables, and constables from the police department to assist these cells to check encroachments.
This follows the reports submitted by collectors of both the districts regarding rampant encroachments due to realty boom. An official survey found that more than 18,000 acre of prime land have been encroached upon in both these districts.
The collectors said “It has become difficult to take swift action, as most of grabbers attack the field staff. To overcome this, police squad needs to be sanctioned.”
