Mysore MP H Anjaneya backs Rahul Gandhi in tough time
'Even a donkey can secure 25,000 votes on Congress symbol' H Anjaneya Mysore MP
Koppal: As the clamour to bring in Priyanka Gandhi gathered momentum in the state, in sentiments voiced by former Mysore MP and senior Congress leader H Vishwanath, who raised his voice against the leadership qualities of the AICC vice-president Mr Rahul Gandhi after the party's drubbing in the Maharastra and Hariyana assembly elections, minister for social welfare Mr H Anjaneya stood up for the embattled Congress leadership.
“Absolutely, there is no question of replacing Rahul Gandhi with any other leader and he will continue to be our leader and everyone in the party is behind him,” he said, while speaking to reporters in Koppal on Monday.
Taking a dig at BJP leaders who claim they can make a “Congress free India”, he said eradicating the Congress party from the country’s political arena is not possible as long as there is a sun and a moon.
Stating that BJP leaders ‘dream’ of making the country free of Congress party will never come true, he said, BJP was only born recently and has little political history, whereas the Congress party has got more than 120 years of history “Congress party has strong roots that are spread across the country. Even if a donkey contests elections on a Congress symbol, it will get a minimum of 25,000 votes,” he asserted, adding that the “Congress party had no lessons to learn from the BJP, and will bounce back.”
Asserting that victory of the BJP in the Maharastra and Haryana assembly elections will have no effect on the state’s politics, Mr H Anjaneya said, BJP leaders were under the illusion after tasting victory in a couple of states that they can repeat the same results anywhere in the country. “If the BJP state leaders are thinking on these lines, then it is their foolishness. If assembly elections are held today, Congress party will be voted to power again in the state,” he averred.
