Young Shiv Sena worker murdered in Mumbai
The motive behind the murder is unclear to the police
Mumbai: A young Shiv Sena worker (gatpramukh in Sena’s hierarchy) was brutally murdered, allegedly by two persons in Malad (east) on Tuesday evening, the police said. The motive behind the murder is unclear to the police, but local Shiv Sena sources believe it could be a fallout between the deceased and the accused associated with the redevelopment work carried out under the SRA scheme.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Khotdongri area in Malad (east). The deceased identified as 27-year-old Ramesh Jadhav used to live with his family in Khotdongri. Jadhav, as per Sena sources, was earlier associated with the Bajrang Dal.
The accused were involved in a fight with a woman. Jadhav had intervened in the fight. He then went home, but the accused is said to have followed him.
They assaulted him with swords when he was alone at his residence. The accused are from the same area and knew the deceased. Jadhav who was stabbed multiple times was rushed to the Ashoka General Hospital in Malad (east), but he succumbed to grievous injuries.
At the time of going to press no one was arrested and a mob had gathered in protest outside the Dindoshi police station, which is investigating the case. The crowd had Sena leaders like Sunil Prabhu and Vinod Ghosalkar. They said they would not claim the deceased’s body till the police nabbed the accused.
