Four die of drowning in Champavati river in Vizianagaram
The youths had gone to the village for attending festival celebrations of a local deity
Visakhapatnam: A religious trip went tragically wrong for four youths from Vizag as they drowned in the Champavati river at Gare Nandigam village in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as M Mahesh, 23, G Siva, 20, P Ramu, 28 and a minor, B Rajesh aged 15.
Four of them were residents of PM Palem and had gone to the village for attending festival celebrations of a local deity, Padalamma.
After morning prayers and revelry the four youths went for a bath in the Champavati river not expecting it to be very deep.
However, the point where they had entered the river had a deep pit caused due to river sand mining resulting in their death. Dead bodies of the four have been recovered.
