Kochi: When Gouri Krishna got a call offering her a chance to do a film, she was busy doing her M.Com in Pune. Though she was in dilemma, she didn’t refuse the offer as she loves cinema and studies equally.

“That was a call from the team of Mitram. I was busy finishing my studies in Pune, but films was also a dream  I nurtured, so I thought why not give it a try. My parents encouraged me to take it up, which gave me a lot of confidence and belief to accept the offer.”

Prior to joining films, Gouri  was  part of many short films and modelling assignments.

Gouri says, “It was like an acting school to do short films and modelling assignments. Facing a camera for the first time, is always  scary and I needed to get over that fear. The experience helped me a lot  when I  did the  film.”

Talking about the movie, Gouri says, “Mitram is a horror film and I play one of the lead roles, Meera. The film is set in two decades and it is the mystery story of two friends, Jini and Meera. The horror part is one of the reasons that made me to accept the film. I love horror flicks and it’s a genre that comes up with interesting story lines.”

In her childhood, Gouri was influenced by the acting of Manju Warrier and Shobhana. “Everyone loves Shobhana and Manju Warrier and I  loved imitating them in my childhood and because of them, I began to love acting. I wanted to do some interesting roles that will become memorable,” says Gouri, a native of Kottayam.

However, she also holds a back-up plan. “I am considering a few films, and next month, I begin work on a project, though I can’t reveal the details. Films are also about uncertainty, so I want to take up  higher studies as a back up plan.”
