Uttaran actor Ajay Chaudhary talks about television, growth and a zeal to explore all things new
How much do you relate to your character in Uttaran?
I relate to my character Vishnu a lot. He is a very down-to-earth and positive guy possibly the most positive guy on Indian television right now. I play an orphan who has witnessed many ups and downs in life, but never gives up.
Would you be open to doing reality shows?
Sure! I’d love to do a dance reality show. I’d also like to play a host on television because it’s a very spontaneous job. Basically, I want to try everything in the field. I come from a theatre background, and would like to explore myself in every possible way. My dream role however is to play a character like Amitabh Bachchan’s in Sharabi.
What are your interests apart from acting?
I love travelling and interacting with people from all parts of the world. I am an adventure junkie, so I want to try everything from bungee jumping to skydiving. In fact, I have tried to fly a plane in the US. I am a little scared of water, but my water sport experiences in Goa and Mauritius have helped curb it a bit.
Who are your favourite Bollywood stars and why?
Amitabh Bachchan is just so perfect in what he does. I also like Irrfan Khan and Kay Kay Menon because they are very original and easy going. As far as actresses are concerned, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are my favourites they are a rare combination of beauty with excellent acting skills!
Who are you 4 am friends from the industry?
I’d have to say Anirudh Dave, Shobit and Mohit Dagga
What are the things you’d like to change about yourself?
I am a very lazy person, so I definitely want to change that about myself. I used to be short tempered as well, but I have managed to change that a bit.
