KOZHIKODEThe Yuva morcha activists in Kozhikode have done what the Sree Rama Sena activists had done to a pub in Mangalore. A group of Yuva morcha activists barged in to an up-market restaurant near 4th Gate and destroyed everything in sight, alleging that the restaurant helped youngsters to indulge in ‘immoral’ activities.

Various cultural and public figures have strongly condemned the barbarian act of the Yuva morcha and demanded action against those who were responsible.

Noted short story writer, P K Parakadavu termed it as an invasion to privacy and moral policing by the Yuva morcha activists. “This incident is similar to what Sree Rama Sena activists had done against a pub in Mangalore and against Valentine’s Day celebrations.

No one has the right to invade in to anyone’s privacy and strong action should be taken against the perpetrators of violence,” P K Parakadavu told DC.

Noted women’s activist and president of Answeshi, K Ajitha said whatever may be the reasons, Yuva morcha had no right to indulge in violence. “If there are complaints about immoral activities, then police should have taken action. I strongly condemn what the Yuva morcha had done. Nobody has a right to indulge in such violence,” Ajitha said.

The city Police Commissioner, A V George, said police have taken a very serious note of the incident and all persons involved would be arrested. “We have never received any complaint against the restaurant so far. It was said to be a decent restaurant. We have directed  the  concerned officials to arrest all those involved,” George said.
