Cantonment Road: Survey for alternatives routes held
Army would give land for the GHMC and the state government to develop roads
Hyderabad: In the first preliminary meeting between the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporati-on, Army authorities and the civil joint action committee formed by the defence authorities, lands in Secunderabad Cantonment areas were identified (however, not specified) to develop as alternative routes following the restrictions on civilian traffic.
Colonel Deven Bhard-waj, along with GHMC officials and the joint action committee members, surveyed the area and the possible alternative routes, for which the Army would give land for the GHMC and the state government to develop roads.
Zonal commissioner of GHMC’s north division S. Hari Krishna, said, “Areas like Mahendra Hills were surveyed.”
However, it is the Army that needs to take a decision on which land needs to be handed over. This was the first preliminary meeting and further discussion needs to take place at the head office level to identify the alternative routes to be developed as the main connectivity. If the proposed land is given by the Army, GHMC can develop a better connectivity road to East Marredpally from Safilguda Railway Station.”
The inspection was done by Mr S. Hari Krishna, Chief Engineer, Mr K. Suresh Kumar and ACP Secunderabad, Mr Prasad.
