Hyderabad: Intelligence sleuths and anti-terror agencies that are scouting Hyderabad based suspects on social media and on keeping a tab on online communication, found that these suspects are hailing the rise of IS and attack on the Canadian parliament.
Officials revealed that electronic spying had become extremely difficult with suspects operating widely through various other means.
A senior police official of Telangana State intelligence department said, “Our online filtering found that several Hyderabad based youth are in support of the recent terror attacks in various parts of the world. This is a disturbing trend. However, it is difficult to bring this under the ambit of the law. There are several youth participating in this and it is not easy to book them,”
Cops said that terror groups were recruiting these youths by starting online closed group pages. The terror operatives were also funding their activities through robberies.
Peddapally DSP P. Venugopal Rao, who is investigating the SBI bank robbery case, said, “The SIMI activists who escaped Khandwa jail and suspected to be behind Choppadani robbery follow Ganimat Ka Maal (commit robberies to fund their holy war). Abu Faizal, a doctor from Mumbai, the head of the group has motivated the members to resort to robbery. They have so been involved in at least eight robberies.”
