Dengue drugs out of stock in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Injections for treating dengue is not available in Hyderabad and Mohammed Asgar’s parents went all over Hyderabad searching for it. Mr Ali Asgar, father of the 11-year-old explained, “We got only nine units of the injection. For three units we went all over but could not get them. The doctor had asked for 12 but were told that it is out of stock. We were lucky to get nine otherwise it would have caused a lot of complications as the platelet count came down to 18,000.”

 

Doctors in Hope Hospital where the patient was admitted urged the family to get the medicine as it was out of stock in their pharmacy for long. 

 

Dr S Rama Krishna, pediatrician explained, "The medicine is out of stock not only in Hyderabad but also in Mumbai. The use has been high because of cases of dengue and not enough medicinal stock is being replenished from time to time." Dr Altaf Naseem explained, "The other alternate medicines Roflo are available in the market and the patients can opt for these medicines."
