Not running behind Rajinikanth: Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan
It is not that the party is dependent on him
Chennai: The BJP banked more on the performance and ability of party leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was not “running behind Rajinikanth” state BJP president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has said.
Clarifying on the issue of the party making overture to elicit the support of the ‘superstar’ to strengthen the saffron party, Dr Tamilisai told reporters in New Delhi on Monday that “an image was being created that the BJP is running behind Rajini.
We welcome all like-minded people with nationalistic outlook into the party and this may include Rajinikanth too. It is not that the party is dependent on him.”
The party is dependent on our Prime Minister’s performance and abilities and this would be the agenda during the elections (in 2016 assembly election in Tamil Nadu).
“We have our own ideology too and nation’s interest is high on our agenda,” the senior leader who earlier called on the Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar in the national capital, said.
During her meeting with Mr Javadekar, Dr. Tamilisai took up the issue of alleged imposition of Hindi through commercial broadcast in state-run All India Radio (AIR) and requested the minister to stop the four hour commercial programme on AIR.
“The minister immediately asked his officials to stop the Hindi programmes,” she said. Meanwhile, the saffron party has announced agitation across the state on October 31 to protest against the hike in Aavin milk prices, which would severely affect the common man, particularly the elders and children, a lot.
