Home Guards of the Mettupalayam unit cleared the plastic, litter and overgrown weeds

Coimbatore: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clean-up call has stirred up youth across the country, the Home Guards of Coimbatore district cleaned up the primary health centre at Karamadai.
About 30 Home Guards of the Mettupalayam unit, including women, led by Company Commander V. Chandran. cleared the plastic, litter and overgrown weeds on the hospital premises. The plants that were overgrown were neatly trimmed using clippers and grass cut and disposed of.
Within four hours, the Home Guards tidied up the hospital campus. “The patients who come in with low levels of immunity are more susceptible to infections and, hence, hospital is the most ideal place to carry out the clean city campaign,” said Area Commander of Home Guards, Coimbatore district, B. Balaji. Sanitary inspector of the area, Mr Shanmugam, lauded the efforts of the Home Guards in cleaning up the the primary health centre.
