Pawared by NCP, BJP doesn’t need Shiv Sena
The Shiv Sena would not gain much if it joins the BJP government
New Delhi: The two moves of the NCP announcing “unconditional outside support” to the BJP in the interest of Maharashtra even before the results of the state Assembly polls were announced and later saying that it would abstain during the vote of confidence has made both the Shiv Sena and the Congress redundant.
These moves could help the BJP in providing a stable government despite its failure to get a majority in the state Assembly.
The Shiv Sena would not gain much if it joins the BJP government and accepts whatever ministries the saffron party offers, as becoming a junior partner would make it irrelevant politically over the course of time.
Its plank of Marathi Manoos, Hindutva and united Maharashtra will weaken once it starts making compromises with the BJP. It is yet not clear whether the Sharad Pawar-led party will sit in the Opposition or back the BJP from the outside.
