KOCHI: St.Joseph Model Public School, Kuiachira, Thrissur, conducted a road safety and traffic rule awareness programme on Thursday. Police Commissioner of Thrissur Shahul Hameed acquainted the students with traffic signals, signboards, zebra crossing and road marking.  “The root cause of growing accidents on the road are the use of mobile phones while driving/riding , rash driving, parallel driving and drunken driving,” Shahul Hameed told the students. He emphasized that all concerned should work together as a team for road safety awareness. “No matter how much money the government spends on road safety awareness, the course of events will not change if we do not adhere to the do’s and don’ts on the road,” he added.
Over 3,000 students  and teaching staff attended  the awareness programme. Principal Rev.Fr.Shaju Chirayath welcomed the gathering.
