Kiss away the hatred, say MLAs
On their Facebook page, the two leaders supported the concept of the protest programme
Kochi: Young politicians, including M.B. Rajesh MP and V.T. Balram MLA, have come out in the open in support of the ‘Kiss of Love’ programme to be conducted at Marine Drive, Kochi, on Sunday to protest against the moral policing tendencies spreading in the state. The programme is being organised in the wake of the vandalising of a coffee shop in Kozhikode by Yuva Morcha activists.
On their Facebook page, the two leaders supported the concept of the protest programme. According to Mr Balram, though everyone has the right to support, oppose or stay away from the event, it would be undemocratic on the part of the government if it tried to suppress the peaceful gathering using police force.
“The Congress is in support of a liberal social system which respects personal freedom. Hence, party workers are not supposed to stand for moral policing and vandalism in its name. Youth Congress leaders should make their stand clear on those who claim to be party workers and support moral policing on TV channel discussions,” remarked Mr Balram.
