kurnool: Anantapur and Kurnool districts employees of Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) staged a hunger protest against its management at Vidyut Bhavan demanding fulfillment of long-pending demands. They are demanding that the organization has to meet the medical expenses of employees who suffered electric shock on duty. In case of death, one person from the family should be given a job.
The protesters dema-nded that meter reading posts and operating po-sts must be immediately filled in the sub-stations of Kurnool and Anant-apur districts. They also demanded cancellation of tenders allotted to contractors who are not paying minimum wage and PPF, EPF, ESI and insurance benefits.
As many sub-stations in Kurnool and Ananta-pur districts do not have minimum basic facilities like drinking water and toilets, the agitating employees have dema-nded that these basic minimum needs must be met right away. They have demanded that pending medical reimbursement bills should be released along with the retirement benefi-ts and pensions of empl-oyees who retired in 2014.Other demands inclu-de releasing of performance incentive to contract junior linemen employed in 2006, promotions to eligible regular employees as junior assistants.
