Chennai: The BJP advocates’ wing which has been maintaining a low profile for long is reviving up.

A group of lawyers led by leading advocate Kumara Guru joined the saffron party on Friday in the presence of Union minister of state for heavy industries Pon Radhakrishnan and state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and other leaders.

Son of Munu Adhi, who had been assembly Speaker during MGR period, Kumara Guru, says he would campaign against both the major Dravidian parties during the 2016 assembly poll.

“Only the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi can deliver a corrupt-free good governance. I have joined the BJP along with 50 Madras high court lawyers to strengthen the hands of Mr Modi and to usher in the BJP rule in TN,” he said.

Contending that he did not aspire for any post in the party, Guru said he would strive hard to strengthen the BJP legal cell. “Yes many more lawyers will join the party,” he replied when asked if more advocates would join the saffron party.

Party national executive member L. Ganesan, vice-president M. Chakravarthy, organising general secretary S. Mohanarajulu and state general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan and other leaders were present when advocates and others joined the party.
