Central Crime Branch busts another fake job racket
The sleuths were collecting and analyzing older data
Bengaluru: Close on heels of unearthing a job racket in Shivajinagar, the CCB busted another fake job consultancy firm located in RT Nagar and arrested five people on Saturday. In this case also the CCB got to know about the scam based on an email tip-off. The CCB’s Fraud and Misappropriation squad raided a firm named Human Resource Placement Services.
The consultancy firm had used the same modus operandi as the one adopted by the Shivajinagar firm. The company used to collect data of unemployed job seekers from job portals and contact them over phone or email. They used to promise them jobs in high profile companies for a registration fee of Rs 4,000.
Once registered, they would send the clients’ resume to fictitious companies. In some cases even fake email interviews were organised, but nobody used to get placements. They then used to make a partial refund and that too only if the client raised hue and cry.
Preliminary investigations reveal that from August 2013, 726 job seekers got registered with the firm and a total of Rs 30.8 lakh was collected and only 367 candidates were provided refunds, amounting to Rs 12.29 lakh. The sleuths were collecting and analyzing older data.
The CCB arrested Abdul Ali, Accounts Manager, Sayeeda Ruhi, Manager, Tasmiya, Placement Officer, Fatima, HR Manager, M.D. Meenhaj, Placement and Assistant Accounts officer.
The owner, Sayyad Gaus of Rajaji Nagar, is absconding and a search is on. A total of 10 monitors, eight CPUs, two laptops, 15 landline phone sets, payment slips, company seal and cheques were seized.
