THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite KPCC leadership’s attempt to isolate Shashi Tharoor, the Thiruvananthapuram MP seems to be on safe wicket. This was evident from his participation in a strategy session convened by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi with senior Congress leaders in Delhi on Friday. Apart from Tharoor, prominent leaders Sushilkumar Shinde, Amrinder Singh, Janardan Diwedi, Mukul Wasnik Tharoor and Ajay Maken took part in the brain storming session.

Clearly, the development has come as a setback to a section of Congress leaders who were targeting him in connection with Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign. They are now wary about their move, considering the high profile MP’s proximity to scion of Gandhi family.

Tharoor's office here even released a clipping of a news agency report on Rahul Gandhi's meeting in Delhi. Many here say this was clearly meant to send out a message to his adversaries in state Congress.

Less than a month ago the KPCC had submitted a complaint against Tharoor accusing him of publicly supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Swachh Bharat campaign. Based on the KPCC  complaint the High Command was forced to remove him as party spokesman.

About six days ago the Congress leaders had made fresh demands for disciplinary action against the high-profile MP for holding Modi style cleanliness campaign at Vizhinjam. Since then the Congress leaders have been making noises against the MP in various platforms.
