Japanese firm offers job to SRM student

Computer science student has been recruited for Rs33 lakh per annum

Chennai: City-based SRM University has beaten its previous record in placements this year by placing over 3,500 students with 3,689 job offers from the three top IT majors. A Japanese company has recruited one student from the computer science department for 5 million Jap-anese yen per annum (Rs33 lakh). While Cognizant offered 1,502 jobs, it was 1,105 by Infosys and 1,082 for Wipro. The recruitment process took place between September 19 and October 7 as part of the day 1 slot. 
 
Over 2,400 SRM students received atleast one job offer from these three companies making it record placement this year. Pointing out that last year, SRM University placed 2,900 B.Tech, M.Tech and MCA students, university president P. Sathyanara-yanan says that this year the university placed over 3,500 students so far in the three top IT firms.

This number is apart from 10 per cent of the total students who did not participate in the campus recruitment, as they opted for higher studies, and another 5 per cent deciding to turn entrepreneurs. The average salary ranged from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per year, with one student offered Rs33 lakh,” he said.
