Bengaluru: Armed with iron rods, two masked men made a futile attempt to break an ATM kiosk of Axis Bank near Hegganahalli bus stand early on Saturday morning in Rajagopalanagar police station limits.

The two men came on a bike around 1.30 am equipped with iron rods to break the ATM machine and loot the cash. When the security guard, Ganganna (80), tried to resist the robbery bid, the duo allegedly threatened him with iron rods and made him sit aside while they tried to break open the machine.

After 30 minutes of futile attempt, the robbers gave it up and fled the scene. The incident came to light around 2.15 am when Ganganna informed Rajagopalnagar police, who rushed to the spot.
