Hyderabad: The two recently completed hydel power units at Lower Jurala in Telangana, which were submerged just after being test synchronised, will not be operational till next summer.
Additionally, with the Telangana government continuing power generation at Srisailam, the Jurala project may not have water to generate power when restored. The two units, which are rated at 240 MW, can start generation only in the next monsoon.
“The units are expected to be restored by the end of March 2015 as they were submerged completely and suffered extensive damage,” said a source adding that the Jurala incident has put the addition plan a step back. Hydel generation during the crucial summer months will be affected.
