Special effects from Belgium for Baahubali
Expert foley artiste to provide sound effects for the upcoming behemoth
The film Baahubali is in the news yet again. for something that has never been done before in Telugu cinema. From November 3, internationally renowned foley artiste Phillipe Van Leer will be working for Baahubali for a period of two weeks at the famous Dame Blanche complex in Belgium.
The facility and the foley artiste are highly regarded in Europe and around the world. The concept of foley is relatively unknown in Tollywood. “Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media during post-production to enhance audio quality.
These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass. The best foley art is so well integrated into a film that it goes unnoticed by the audience.”
Water sloshing, swords jangling, footsteps, a ripple of a cloth etc., are some of the sounds that foley artistes try to recreate effectively. The recording will go on from the November 3 to 14. Director S.S. Rajamouli has also chosen sound designer P.M. Sateesh to enhance the film’s audio experience.
