Kiss of Love Facebook page blocked, activated again
FB page received over 10,000 ‘likes’ on the campaign day on Sunday
Kochi: The moral policing by protestors against ‘Kiss of Love’ spread to the social media on Monday after mass posts by hundreds of followers led to the page being blocked by Facebook at around 9.15 am. However, this didn’t stop the ‘free thinkers’ as they started another page in the place of the original one which had over 70,000 ‘likes’.
“The page admin gave a detailed explanation following which Facebook authorities reactivated the original page within an hour. Even the personal profiles of the administration members were blocked and released later,” said an activist.
The organizers mainly used the original page as the medium for the campaign and it received over 10,000 ‘likes’ on the campaign day on Sunday. After the event, the cover picture of the page read, “Attackers are safe; victims are locked up!.”
“Groups with communal and fascist ideologies always targeted this group. It is for the fifth time that this group got banned due to organized massive reporting. Any Facebook community or press would not have faced such relentless opposition from extreme ideologists. This clearly reveals the bewildered groups with vested interests”, the organizers later wrote on the page.
The new group formed by the organizers was also an instant hit with over 5,000 members joining within hours.
