Sonia Gandhi angry with party affairs in Telangana State
This was disclosed by R.C. Kuntia during the meeting of the Congress legislators
Hyderabad: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has serious reservations on the performance of Telangana Congress leaders and seems to have expressed her deep anguish and disappointment about party affairs in Telangana.
This was disclosed by R.C. Kuntia, AICC secretary in-charge of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh party affairs, during the meeting of the Congress legislators on Monday.
Sources in the CLP said, Mr Kuntia was summoned recently by Mrs Gandhi and discussed party affairs in the state. During the 40-minute meeting he had with her, Ms Gandhi told him that she was disappointed with the state of the party in Telangana.
“Some MLAs and MLCs quit the party to join the TRS. What are you and Digvijay Singh (general secretary in-charge) doing in Delhi? Why can’t you go to the states and do something to set things right? I am fed up with Telangana party affairs.
Having sacrificed a major state for the creation of Telangana, is this the way things are going?” Sonia Gandhi reportedly told the AICC secretary.
Narrating details of his meeting with Mrs Gandhi, Mr Kuntia told the Congress legislators that they should not take things lightly and leaders like Ponnala Lakshmaiah, K. Jana Reddy and D. Srinivas should sit and coordinate efforts for rejuvenating the party in the region.
“I have never seen such anger on the face of the party president before. Unless you all make efforts in unison it will be difficult for the party to regain ground,” Kuntia told them.
