Hyderabad: Students protested till late at night outside the administrative block of the University of Hyderabad. They wanted the VC to take stringent action against Right-wing activists who had vandalised the campus and had attacked UoH students taking part in the “Kiss of Love” event on Sunday evening. The students were blocked from entering the administrative building by the police. They then staged a dharna outside the office on Tuesday.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, who interacted with the students, formed an enquiry committee and said that a statement will be released soon.

“We have certain demands, and the first one is to file a police complaint against the people who entered the campus. When I went to the administration building along with the students’ union members, I was dragged away by the police,” said Prashant, a student.

The administration has constituted a committee and said that a complaint has been filed. “We want the varsity officials to show us the FIR. We suspect they have not filed one owing to pressure from the ABVP. We are also protesting  the increasing surveillance within the campus,” said Rohit, another student.

The students also demanded an apology from the female BJYM leader who tried slapping and harassing protesting students.
