Vijayawada: District police on Monday arrested three persons, including a hired killer in connection with the murder of YSR Congress leader and trader B. Srisaila Vasu, 42, in Nandigama on October 28. Prime accused Unnam Hanumanth Rao is still at large.

Krishna district SP G. Vijay Kumar, who produced the accused before the media at Machilipatnam, said that the murder was the result of a fall out in a business deal. He said that Hanumanth Rao who was the working partner in sand business, gave the victim Rs 3.5 crore on loan.

The partners developed differences over the borrowed money and Hanumanth Rao bore a grudge against Vasu and hatched the plot to murder him.

As part of the plan, Hanumantha Rao hired Md. Ayaz alias Pasha, a history-sheeter of Ranga Reddy district of Telangana by paying him Rs 3 lakh.

Hanumantha Rao also borrowed a licensed 0.32 mm revolver and cartridges by paying Rs 5 lakhto the owner, Manthena Krishna Kumar of Krishna district.

He introduced Pasha to Vasu as his friend 10 days before the murder. They both stayed in Vasu’s guesthouse, Mr Vijay Kumar said.

Pasha, Krishna Kumar and Janga Karthik, who helped the duo hide themselves in Madhapur of Telangana after the murder, were arrested on Monday morning from their hideout.

The revolver, cartridges, a car and cash was seized from their possession.
